Story of The Day : Common Sense

7 May 2018, 5.30 P.M

So today, my friends and I were planning to shoot a roleplay video for our French Phonetic subject. The roleplay is about two friends dining at a restaurant and in this video, we are required to speak in French and we must make sure that our pronunciation and intonation are correct (That's the sole purpose of this assignment).

We all gathered exactly at 5.30 p.m as we promised and soon we began to start shooting the video. There were many people there at Lembah, and most of them as I can see were doing their assignments. We were not that bothered by the sound of people talking and laughing as it helps a bit in making our video look realistic as if we were at a real restaurant.

So, with a help of my friend from German course Aida, our task was ease. We finished shooting 3 out of 4 scenes by 6.00 p.m and all was left is the closure. Just when I thought our job would be done in a few minutes, the four of us noticed a group of boys and girls sitting at a table not far from us. There were 8 of them, and none of them were doing anything as most of them were chatting with each other.

Couldn't care less about them, we continued shooting for the last scene. And, a second after Aida shouted 'action', the group started talking loudly and they were laughing non-stop, therefore interrupted our shots and we had to retake it. But, even take after take, we noticed that all of the videos are a failure! The sound of them laughing and talking overshadowed our voice, thus we cannot use it. Even when we amplify our voices, their voices still interrupted our video. If I remember correctly, we had to retake the video for 6 times, just because of their voices.

It was really disrespectful and it made me sad that some people like them have no common sense that they should have lowered their voice when they saw us recording things like that. There are other people aside of them there, yet others were being very respectful and they even control their voices as they talk yet this group keeps on talking loudly like that even though they saw us recording the video.

It was getting late but still, we couldn't shoot our last scene because of them. We had to take a break most of the time when suddenly, out of nowhere a man showed up and switched off the electric source for the Lembah area. The fans and the lamps there went out, so the group loses it due to the heat and they even started packing their stuff to go home. As for us, we were not slightly bothered as we were focused on finishing our assignment. Truth to be told, we were happy that they were packing their stuff as that means we can continue shooting. Few minutes passed, and we continued our task and managed to finish in 15 minutes. The man, again, out of nowhere came and switched back the electric source to turn on the lamps and fans. Surprisingly, he even asked us about our progress. He mentioned that he saw us from afar and noticed that the presence of the group was interrupting our task. Speechless, we just thanked him for his kindness as, without his action, we might not have finished our task by 7.00 p.m.

Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly and we already finished editing our video and it is ready to be submitted. The thing that I noticed about today is that we as a human should have a common sense on a certain situation so that we were not in a position to be a burden to others. Always keep in mind, if you help to ease others job, insyaAllah your future job will be ease too
